First Update

Surprisingly, I have not been able to get out an update on my trip thus far. It's been a jam-packed and tiring week, full of fun and excitement, good friendships, sight-seeing, and classes as well of course! The host family is great, and I have much to tell about, but seeing as how this is only the second time I have accessed the Internet in the week I have been here, I regrettably do not have the time at the present to detail all that I wish to. Basically I just want to let all know that things are great, and that I will be posting pictures and more notes here and there when I have the time. Just getting out journal entries in my 'spare' time is an issue these days, if you can believe it.

Quick summary for now:
* Weather- sunny and not hot, but warm. Nights are colder and I shiver of course. And use handwarmers
* Host family- father (famous dentist who travels to the U.S. some weeks to work there as well), great host mom, and a 20-year-old host sister who lives at home. The casa is large, three dogs, two cats, and I'll be posting pics soon to detail more. Pictures worth 1,000 words!
* School- classes are laid back and easy, especially with my prior experience in the Spanish-speaking world. We've been visiting museums, cultural exhibits, art, participating in cultural events and learning all that we can thus far. It's been fabulous! Hikes to monuments and places around town, and just keeping REALLY busy!
* Social life- yay! I continue to put school on the back burner, haha. I love JanTerm and being in Latin America. Nights out with friends and going new places. I love re-connecting and meeting with new Whitworth people abroad!

So this is going to have to be it for now. If you want something specific, email me. As I have said, I haven't been checking email much at all. It's been a really low priority in the midst of being abroad and studying and being so busy and entertained by other things. At the least, I'll have a lot to share when I return to the States.
Oh and check out photos. I will be trying to post some in the next few days.

Leaving again...

It's the night before I leave on a red-eye from SeaTac, headed to Houston for Whitworth's JanTerm group study abroad in Guanajuato, Mexico. We will be flying into Leon and then taking a bus to our host families. I am pretty excited to be traveling again after being in Sequim for the last 10 days, haha. Can't wait to be speaking espaƱol again! It will be good to see Whitworth faces again and head out on another adventure!
